FAQ
What are HEX, RGB and HSL?
Three ways of writing the same color. HEX (#4F46E5) is the web standard, RGB (red, green, blue 0-255) matches screens, and HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) is easiest to tweak by hand. We give you all three so you can paste into any design tool or stylesheet.
How accurate is the pixel sampling?
Exact. We read the actual pixel data from the image you dropped - the same values Photoshop's eyedropper would show. Large images are displayed scaled down, but sampling still maps to the displayed resolution faithfully.
How is the palette extracted?
We sample thousands of pixels and cluster them with k-means - a machine-learning technique that groups similar colors and returns the six clusters covering the most of your image, ordered by dominance.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything is computed in your browser on a canvas. Screenshots with sensitive content stay on your device.
